We are an independent, digital publication that chronicles arts, food, music, people and places, built upon the conviction that earnest, substantive journalism is a meaningful counter to a media-landscape increasingly defined by noise.

Submattr covers its communities as one of their own. Whether it's an upcoming actor preparing for her first leading role, the return of a popular music-festival, an immigrant-restaurateur opening his first location or an old venue finding new life, every story is treated with the same curiosity and journalistic rigor that major publications devote to their most prominent subjects. Our stories are chosen because we believe their substance serves a real audience and adds something genuine to the conversation.
We define "substance" as content with tangible value. It is the standard every Submattr story must meet, regardless of beat, format or length.
